Art – Susi Bellamy is a mixed media artist whose work ranges from painting to collage to printmaking. Her background as a fashion editor for Condé Nast Publications filters into all of her practice and she often works in stories or collections as she did when creating visuals for the magazine world. Recently graduating with an MA in Fine Art at Northumbria University, Newcastle, Susi now works from a studio in the Ouseburn. Previous to this she spent almost 7 years living and working in Florence and inspired by the Renaissance religious art she created this series of Madonna collages encased in handmade gilded frames made by local artisans. Her work can be found in collections internationally.
Art for the Sofa – As an extension to her artwork Susi recently began to create vibrant, colourful ‘art for the sofa’ – textiles based on her Italian inspired artwork. The rich texture and subtle mark making created in Susi’s paintings are digitally transferred to luxurious velvet which harnesses the texture of the artwork into the deep pile of the fabric. Her marbled paper designs and collages complete the designs in this unique collection. Susi Bellamy Cushions are stocked in Liberty, London and will soon be available at Heals.
