Project Description

1931 Born Kirkcaldy, Fife

Studied at Edinburgh College of Art, and then Edinburgh University. Barrie exhibited in solo shows throughout the UK and her work is held in numerous public and private collections, most notably by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Mardi Barrie worked mainly in oils, the lyrical qualities of her paintings attracted many music lovers and musicians in particular, responding to the subtle harmony of mood and colour. She intervened at a moment between order and disorder in her work and tension and excitement are the result.
