Alison McWhirter is a new artist to the Gallery and has been described by Scotland on Sunday as “rapidly becoming one of Scotland’s best loved and most admired new Scottish Colourists”.
Alison was born in Dumfries, Scotland in 1975 and attended Bath Academy where she gained a BA in Fine Art (1988) and a postgraduate MFA (2000). After graduating she went into art education and also worked part-time as a freelance photographer and writer. In 2008 she returned to live in Scotland and became a full-time artist and since then has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the UK.
